POSITION TITLE: Red Kettle Coordinator

STATUS: Temporary- Non-Exempt/Full-Time

COMPENSATION: $17.50 (Hourly)

Minimum Qualifications

The applicant must be a high school graduate or have equivalent efficiencies. Post-secondary education is also preferred.

A minimum of 6 months of related supervisory/management experience.

  • Must pass a DMV MVR check and a Salvation Army driving test.

  • Must complete Protecting the Mission – child safety

  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be a minimum of 21 years

Position Summary

The Red Kettle Coordinator is a temporary/seasonal position that will function under the direction of the corps officer and in collaboration with business and finance staff. This position is key to the coordination of all Red Kettle Campaign activities. While not all aspects of the campaign effort will be the direct responsibility of the kettle coordinator, the following outlines primary areas of responsibility.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and resource for Register to Ring.

  • Facilitate the registration process for volunteers through Register to Ring.

  • Confirm, schedule and coordinate volunteers (both individuals and groups) through R2R and through phone calls.

  • Coordinate equipment retrieval and delivery for volunteer groups and paid bell ringers.

  • Collaborate with Temp Agency to recruit, train, process, schedule and supervise bell ringers.

  • Facilitate an orientation process for both paid bell ringers and volunteers.

  • Report hours to Temp Agency.

  • Prepare and coordinate driver routes every day according to the schedule and needs.

  • Schedule drivers daily and effectively communicate scope of work for drivers according to route needs.

  • Report driver hours into UKG for payroll.

  • Provide excellent customer service skills to the public including store personnel and managers as representative of The Salvation Army.

  • Serve as kettle receiver when needed and properly store and lock up equipment.

  • Take phone calls from both paid ringers and volunteers to provide answers for inquiries regarding scheduling and other logistical issues arising to ensure a smooth and efficient implementation of the program.

  • Provide direction to drivers as needed to troubleshoot and handle unforeseeable circumstances requiring immediate attention.

  • Prepare financial reports for Finance Administration and make recommendations pertaining to bell ringer performance.

  • Oversee the data entry process for reporting hours and income into Register to Ring.

  • Closely monitor sites and bell ringer activity through drivers.

  • As needed, assist with driving for the kettle program which may include but not limited to kettle deliveries, kettle pick-ups, and equipment switch outs according to the daily needs of the operations.

Essential Functions

  • Make sure all equipment (signs, stands, kettles, bells, aprons) are clean and in good working order.

  • Arrange for the delivery of kettle stands according to store manager instructions prior to the first day of kettles.

  • Manage Route Supervisors for the effective work of each bell ringers.

  • Coordinate the input of time keeping records for route supervisors and bell ringers.

  • Monitor bell ringer and site productivity.

  • Adhere to employee dress code and set an example for others.

  • Prepare an end-of-season debrief for the Red Kettle Campaign.

  • Other seasonal duties as assigned by Kettle Supervisor and Corps Officers.

Working Conditions--Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.

  • Ability to operate a complex multi-faceted telephone system.

  • Ability to operate a desktop and/or laptop computer.

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

  • Ability to access and produce information from a computer.

  • Ability to understand oral and written information.

  • Ability to walk, sit, stand, and bend intermittently and/or continuously.

  • Ability to exercise good hand-eye coordination (using hand to hand, hand to finger, hand to object).

  • Ability to hear and speak clearly.

  • Ability to see clearly both up close and at a distance.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
