[As a member of the healthcare team, the Emergency Services Technician assists the Licensed Independent Practitioner (L.I.P.), R.N. and Unit Secretary. The position is an integral part of the team approach to patient care and performs those tasks that contribute to the smooth and efficient flow of patients through the department.]{arial",="" sans-serif;="" font-size:="" 12pt"=""}

Responsibilities

[[PATIENT CARE]{arial",="" sans-serif;="" font-size:="" 12pt"=""}]{.underline}[: Provides patient care to newborn, child, adult and geriatric patients as delegated by and under the supervision of a registered nurse.]{arial",="" sans-serif;="" font-size:="" 12pt"=""}

[Follows established standards in providing patient care.]{arial",="" sans-serif;="" font-size:="" 12pt"=""}

[Organizes care with consideration of patient and unit activities.]{arial",="" sans-serif;="" font-size:="" 12pt"=""}

[Provides comfort measures, e.g. positioning, extra blankets/pillows.]{arial",="" sans-serif;="" font-size:="" 12pt"=""}

[Provides for safety through use of low bed position, side rails, restraints as ordered, adequate lighting, slippers, identification of hazards, assisted ambulation.]{arial",="" sans-serif;="" font-size:="" 12pt"=""}

[Assists Licensed Independent Practitioners with routine exams, e.g. positioning of patient to listen for breath sounds, etc., and pelvic exams.]{arial",="" sans-serif;="" font-size:="" 12pt"=""}

[Obtains vital signs as directed by RN.]{arial",="" sans-serif;="" font-size:="" 12pt"=""}

[Sets up equipment (e.g., suture tray, suction) as directed per RN utilizing proper technique.]{arial",="" sans-serif;="" font-size:="" 12pt"=""}

[Applies principles of body mechanics when positioning, transferring, and ambulating patients.]{arial",="" sans-serif;="" font-size:="" 12pt"=""}

[Assists with the transportation of patients.]{arial",="" sans-serif;="" font-size:="" 12pt"=""}
