Amazon Sr. Product Manager – Tech, Amazon Aurora and Amazon RDS Open Source in Vancouver, British Columbia

Are you passionate about revolutionizing database computing in the cloud? Do you want to have a direct impact on hundreds of thousands of customers who rely on AWS relational database services? We're seeking an accomplished product manager to join our innovative Amazon Aurora and Amazon RDS Open Source Product Management Team.

As a Sr. Product Manager Tech – External Services, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of cloud database services, with an emphasis on new capabilities that improve the builder and operator experience and that integrate databases with emerging technologies such as generative AI, advanced analytics, and serverless architectures. You'll work on Amazon Aurora, the fastest-growing service in AWS history, as well as our Amazon RDS offerings for PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and MySQL.

Key job responsibilities

• Create a product strategy that appeals to the unique needs and requirements of database customers

• Manage the entire product life cycle from strategic planning to tactical execution

• Launch the vision, product strategy and roadmap for our products and working with key stakeholders in the company to deliver on that vision, e.g., sales, partner teams, international site leaders

• Define product requirements documents based on an intimate knowledge of specific segments, target customers, and unmet needs

• Define go-to-market plans and driving enablement, working to ensure that sales, Solution Architects, Professional Services, and other internal partner teams have what they need to be successful

• Drive sales by enabling business development and sales teams, leading calls with key customers, creating tools to support the success, helping to identify opportunities to increase that success

• Establish goals and reviewing metrics to identify opportunities and deliver success

• Identify new opportunities for AWS to innovate on behalf of our customers

We tackle challenging problems at the intersection of database technology, AI, and cloud computing, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in database management. We impact mission-critical applications of AWS customers across diverse industries such as financial services, games, healthcare, and e-commerce. You’d be joining a team recognized as pioneers in cloud database technology, as evidenced by our ACM SIGMOD Systems Award, and would contribute to our continued leadership in this space.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technical product management with internet business experience

  • BA degree in a quantitative/technical field such as computer science, engineering, statistics

  • Experience working with customers, technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs

  • Experience delivering large-scale SaaS, PaaS or LaaS products where you are responsible for the full product lifecycle, from concept through GTM (go to market)

  • Proven ability to influence internally and externally through written communication that addresses all levels of leadership and technical expertise

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a quantitative/technical field such as computer science, engineering, statistics

  • Experience in a technical field (software development, network development, IT, other related)

  • Knowledge of deep learning, machine learning and statistics

  • Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MariaDB

The base salary for this position ranges from $135,700/year up to $226,500/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
