Amazon Software Development Manager, Amazon Compensation Team in Vancouver, British Columbia

Description

The Amazon Compensation Technology (ACT) team is in a unique position in that its systems impact every single Amazon employee. Our customers are our peers and co-workers, so there is an extra level of responsibility that comes with the job.

As a Software Development Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in leading and managing a development team responsible for designing, implementing, and delivering in some of the most critical points of an employee's career. In addition, this team have the opportunities to:

  • use native AWS technologies to build and support one of the most complex compensation systems on the planet

  • influence technology decisions that will have a direct impact on all employees

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of experienced software developers to design, develop, deploy, and support key features of the security management system.

  • Lead recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and building a positive team culture

  • Drive the implementation of different compensation products.

  • Connect with customers on a regular basis, build the roadmap for the team, collaborate with the product manager team and other sister teams to execute on new projects,

About the team

ACT enables Amazon to realize the goal of compensation: attracting, motivating and retaining talent. We do this by providing the products and services necessary for calculating and managing every compensation change activity in the lifecycle of all global Amazon employees. We give all users a clear and consistent understanding of how compensation was calculated, how and when it can be adjusted, and the impacts of compensation adjustments. We provide the reporting, data, and insights that enables continuous evolution of compensation programs and policies.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of engineering experience

  • 5+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • 2+ years of engineering team management experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary for this position ranges from $171,400/year up to $286,200/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
