First United Methodist Church Administrative Assistant in Van Wert, Ohio

 All staff of FUMC are part of the total Ministry Team and as such must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a call to serve Him in the area of their position and be able to clearly articulate both.

? Where applicable, all staff of FUMC are hired not only to fulfill a specific ministry function,but also to fulfill a ministry of enlargement of disciples through mobilizing and equipping others who have a related call to ministry.

? All staff must demonstrate in the practice of their ministry support for and ownership of the Core Beliefs, Core Values, and Ministry Purpose of FUMC.

? All staff of FUMC must demonstrate in the practice of their ministry the qualities of Godly Christian servants as outlined in Titus 1:7-9. "Since an overseer manages God's household, he must be blameless---not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it."

Purpose: The Office Manager provides administrative service and support in the areas of communications and clerical functions.

Accountability: The Office Manager is responsible to the appointed pastor.

Key Results Area # 1 Communications

Supporting Goal: To clearly, concisely communicate FUM ministries and missional outreach both internally and externally.

  • Publish Weekly Bulletins
  • Worship team weekly E-mails and texts reminders.
  • Maintain file of all leadership teams/committee minutes.
  • Send out reminder E-mails for leadership/committe team meetings
  • Coodinate agenda and meeting reports for the Ad-Board
  • Maintain the church calendar
  • Small Group Schedules
  • Scheduling weddings, and coodinating funerals, luncheons, and other church events.

Key Result Area # 2 Administrative Functions

Supporting Goal: To provide administrative support as needed for both non-appointed staff and ministry servant leaders.

  • Administrative and clerical support for non-appointed staff as needed.
  • Receptionist for guests and congregates.
  • Pick-up, sort, and distribute mail appropriately.
  • Coordinate follow-up of hospital, home bound members.
  • Coordinate community service workers and civil inspectors.
  • Take minutes for weekly staff meetings
  • Arrange for servant volunteer appreciation events, gifts, and thank you notes.
  • Professionally respond to incoming phone calls.
  • Ensure that in the absence of the Financial Secretary, any drop-in or mailed offerings are placed in the safe for processing at a later date by the Financial Secretary.
  • Record keeping and Metrics: Serves as the Administrator of FUMC Data base. Includes membership, attendance, baptisms, weddings, deaths, small group involvement, demographics, ministry servants,
  • Worship attendance, and attendance spreadsheet. Prepare appropriate certificates.
  • Prepare and update the church directory.

Key Result Area # 3 Other duties as appropriately assigned.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
