Essential Functions:

1. Contact insurance companies for insurance verification. Utilize web portals as needed.

2. Counsel Obstetrical and Surgical patients on insurance benefits. Explain in detail and answer questions.

3. Calculate OB Fees and Surgery Deposits based on insurance benefits.

4. Make sure Prior Authorizations are obtained for OB and Surgical procedures.

5. Document accounts with accurate benefit information.

6. Mail letters to patients with insurance information.

7. Complete necessary paperwork for OB and Surgery patients.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, Undergraduate Degree preferred.

• Strong knowledge of medical insurance and healthcare billing

• Ability to communicate effectively with insurance carriers, coworkers

• Experience with medical billing/coding preferred

• Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment

• Ability to multi-task

• Working knowledge of ICD10, CPT-4, HCPCS, Modifiers

• Demonstrate extensive understanding of insurance plans and benefits (PPO, HMO, POS, EPO, Indemnity) required

• Possess knowledge, skill, and ability to operate a PC, applications/software, telephone, fax scanner and copier

• Displays excellent oral and written communication skills; possesses excellent organizational and follow up skills; meets deadlines

• Possess and demonstrates professional telephone demeanor and appearance

• Displays the ability to keyboard 40 wpm; is proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Interacts successfully with all levels of staff and management; responds positively to direction and supervision
