Role Summary

As a Senior Observability Technical Marketing Engineer within Splunk’s Technical Marketing practice, you will execute upon the technical go-to-market (GTM) narrative that demonstrates in depth how our products work, how they deliver value and what specific customer-centric outcomes they deliver for Splunk’s Observability business area. You will strive to inform, inspire and delight our technical practitioner-level customer and prospect audiences by producing intuitive, compelling, accessible content for technical sellers and buyers alike.

You will create technical sales enablement assets and produce compelling product demonstrations and hands-on customer proof events that illustrate how we address Observability practitioner challenges via a demonstrable series of GTM Use Cases aligned to Splunk’s Customer Resilience Journey, coupled with detailed and persuasive product launch technical sales and marketing tools that make our solutions resonate with our target audience personas. You will develop how-to guides to help practitioner-level customer audiences reach buying decisions and will provide technical assistance to account teams looking to secure the technical win on competitive sales opportunities.

You will collaborate closely with Product Management, Product Marketing, Product Strategy, Sales Engineering and Technical/Partner Sales to ensure that Technical Marketing GTM content is technically accurate and delivers contextually-relevant messaging aligned to the needs and real-world challenges of our targeted technical audiences. You will work with Splunk Technical and Partner Sales Enablement as Observability subject matter expert to develop technical sales training and enablement for product launches, GTM activities and industry events including Splunk .conf, Cisco Live and sales kickoff events.

What you'll get to do

  • Grow and maintain subject matter expert technical marketing competency across the Splunk solution portfolio to drive positive sales outcomes in the Observability business area

  • Create high-quality external-facing technical content such as whitepapers, how-to videos, presentations, blogs, best practice guides, and reference architectures concerning customer use cases and Splunk solution offerings and capabilities

  • Work with Product Marketing, Technical Enablement, and Technical Sales teams to package content for internal and external consumption

  • Execute demo topics and build customer outcome-centric demo scripts for the Technical Sales team to clearly communicate Splunk’s value propositions and beneficial customer outcomes

  • Develop and deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations to internal and external audiences e.g., Technical Sales, Industry Analysts and to practitioner customer audiences

  • Build self-guided demos, product tours, and other forms of immersive technical content to drive awareness, consideration and demand

  • Demonstrate product capabilities for product reviews and analyst reports, in coordination with Analyst Relations

  • Work closely with the Competitive Intelligence team to capture technical differentiation for use in our competitive positioning and head-to-head demonstration capabilities

Must-have Qualifications

  • 6+ years of hands-on technical marketing, technical product management or technical sales experience in Observability or a closely related technical discipline

  • Proven track record of building sales tools that translate technical solutions into compelling business outcomes

  • Proven track record of marketing to highly-technical audiences within large organizations, including demonstrated expertise working with and marketing to enterprise technical buyers, practitioners, decision-makers and other stakeholders

  • Demonstrated experience in developing original and compelling technical marketing content, sales enablement training, and other enablement tools

  • Strong domain knowledge demonstrated through hands-on experience within Observability (Application Performance Monitoring, Infrastructure Monitoring, AIOps, Incident Management) or other enterprise DevOps tooling

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical industry experience

  • Experience as a Sales Engineer or a technical practitioner in Observability or related functions

  • Hands-on experience with Splunk Observability products or those of a close competitor

  • Splunk product certification

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $159,200.00 - 218,900.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $143,280.00 - 197,010.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $127,360.00 - 175,120.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out below, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
