Job Description

At Danfoss we engineer impact where it counts, from the farms that feed to the modern city. Danfoss in Utica has an opening for a Quality Technician on 3rd shift. The hours for this position are Monday to Friday 11:00 pm - 7:30 am.

The Quality Technician role will be responsible for specified activities in the support of product quality. This position is a shift assignment in the cleanroom. The individual acts as the shift contact for quality topics and supports / drives the operations team in addressing Quality issues. This will involve auditing, data gathering and support for Quality and Process Engineers. Heavy focus on knowledge of internal standards, as well as direct support of manufacturing operations to achieve internal goals related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supports and complies with established Company’s Corporate Principles and goals. Understands and supports Quality requirements such as ISO 9000 and IATF 16949.

  • Advises inspectors on interpretation of requirements.

  • Monitors manufacturing processes and assesses product quality to determine adequacy, capability and ability to comply with customer and company specifications.

  • Gathers information for and participates in the PDR process.

  • Provides feedback on documents and procedures related to quality standards, product audits, field returns and repairs, complaints, scrap, and rework, and retain documented information as evidence.

  • Protects customers from escaped quality issues by management of containment, sorting, corrective action and blocking of suspected parts.

  • Facilitates and participates in process audits.

  • International and Non-International Travel possible approximately 5%.

  • Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate possesses these skills:

Required qualifications

  • AAS degree (Mechanical,

  • Electrical/Electronics or Industrial) or job equivalent experience in a Quality Department. 2+ years of progressive related Quality experience in a manufacturing or technical environment.

  • Strong knowledge in measurement techniques.

  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings including basic GD&T

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g.: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

Preferred qualifications

  • 5+ years in Quality Technician role.

  • Knowledge with data analytics (Capability, Gage R&R, etc.).

  • Recognized quality qualification (e.g.: ASQ certification).

Compensation Data

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $30.00+ per hour. Base salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
