Suny Polytechnic Institute Budget Control Officer in Utica, New York

This position plays a key role in the direction and successful delivery of the campus financial plan by developing, implementing and monitoring campus budgets.

Aids in developing budget planning and administration policies and procedures.

The Budget Control Officer is responsible for the collaboration with individuals on campus at all levels and roles to ensure the University's budget policies, procedures, operations, and practices are efficient and effective in meeting the strategic goals and objectives of the institution.

Budget Planning-using an all funds approach, support the annual budget planning process and periodic financial reporting, establish a working understanding of the financial reports managed by the office. Responsible for assisting AVP in completion and review of federal, state, and/or SUNY periodic reporting.

Processing of Budget adjustments and required transfers. Including PSR, TS, and OTPS expenditures. Prepare and manage allocations and projections to optimize use of available funds and adhere to established budget parameters.

Processing of Revenue transfers - Prepare and process cash transfers to maintain positive cash balances across all IFR accounts.

Assist Assistant Vice President for Business Affairs with internal controls and other reasonable duties as assigned.

Provide leadership, oversight and direction to fund custodians to assure goals, programs, activities, and personnel practices are consistent with and contribute to the Institution's goals and strategies. Design and assist in implementation of budget strategies, plans and procedures to assure smooth functioning of SUNY Poly's Finances. Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Salary Range $60,000 to $70,000.00 Annually

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field from college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.

  • 2 years' experience in Budget or Finance area

  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, Power Point)

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally

  • High level of attention to detail, organization, project management skills, and possess analytical skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree in business, accounting or another related field

  • SUNY or NYS Finane Experience in the areas of Accounting or Budgeting

  • Experience with Banner and Argos
