The Arc Oneida-Lewis Chapter Associate Director- Residential Services in Utica, New York

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

To oversee the staffing needs of the residential program including recruiting, interviewing, and hiring direct service staff. Works to provide adequate coverage in the residences utilizing floaters and per diems efficiently. Oversees the training and orientation of new residential direct support staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure protection from abuse, neglect, mistreatment and exploitation in regard to the health, safety, comfort, and well-being for the people we support by adhering to all related policies.

  • Assist Human Resources in interviewing direct support candidates and recommends viable candidates to the Director of Residential Services.

  • Monitor staff vacancies to ensure there is an ongoing flow of qualified candidates to keep the vacancy rate at a minimum.

  • Oversee house staffing plans and makes necessary changes to meet the needs of the homes.

  • Routinely communicates with Human Resources when there is a need to advertise for vacant job positions.

  • Provide direct supervision to Coverage Team.

  • Provide direct supervision of the Systems Manager, and cross trains them on job duties.

  • Provide direct supervision for the floater and per-diem staff and ensure they are scheduled a manner that provides efficient quality care, including the management of overtime usage by staff.

  • Ensure DSP core competency evaluations for per diem and float staff are completed and assist as necessary.

  • With input from the Director of Residential Operations, complete Job Improvement Plans, Counseling Memos, and Counseling Statements as assigned.

  • Review for accuracy and approve and process assigned employees time and attendance in deputy, including all supporting documentation.

  • For those staff identified on the organizational chart, evaluate performance on-going and complete a formal employee appraisal on an annual basis.

  • Maintain a viable floater/per diem pool and updated per diem list.

  • With input from the Residential Administrative and Coverage Team, monitor and arrange coverage for the southern component of the residential program.

  • Provide backup support to the Systems Manager in the Learning Management System; being able to track training, the need for training and/or refreshers and must to be able to train staff on using the LMS, as needed.

  • Serve as an active member of the residential administrative component. Attend all required meetings and in-services and represent the division on committees as requested.

  • Visit the residential sites and provides feedback on the site visit, including visits on off hours.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's Degree in Human Services, Business Management, Information Technology or related field from an accredited educational institution and Two years of experience performing responsible general administrative work in a Human Services organization (Or)

  • High School Diploma/GED with specialized training in IT or Office Management and Four years related experience performing responsible general administrative work in a Human Services organization.

  • Experience in various computer databases and developing new systems to maintain quality and efficient scheduling.

  • Valid NYS Driver's License
