The Visual Media Designer is responsible for designing and producing instructional and marketing assets to engage diverse audiences and deliver key messages effectively. As part of the Digital Art team, the Visual Media Designer will have the opportunity to bring artistic flair and technical skills to create impactful multimedia content that aligns with our brand identity and instructional objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities -

Art Development

  • Lead in the design and development of curricular media such as diagrams, illustrations, animations, title cards, logos, icons, for CITL courses/projects
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to translate art needs into creative designs, illustrations, animations, and interactive media, ensuring consistency with pedagogical and research goals.
  • Recommend innovative strategies and research emerging trends, processes, and tools.
  • Deliver presentations in team meetings and to stakeholders for proposing new creative concepts and designs, updating on current progress, and reviewing previous projects.
  • Advocate for the importance of diversity and inclusivity in all presentations to stakeholders, emphasizing the positive impact it has on the effectiveness and success of our creative endeavors.

Project Management and Collaborations

  • Lead design projects from conception to completion, ensuring work is produced on time, to budget, and to a high standard.
  • Collaborate, advise, and assist CITL staff, students, and others with design needs.
  • Collaborate with campus researchers and faculty to produce engaging scientific and instructional media for interactive learning and publications.
  • Encourage an open and inclusive atmosphere during brainstorming sessions to welcome diverse ideas and perspectives, valuing each team member\'s input and creativity.
  • Engage with faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds to ensure that designs are culturally sensitive and resonate with a diverse audience.
  • Collaborate with the University\'s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, aligning our creative work with broader institutional goals and values.

Knowledge Integration

  • Stay abreast of industry trends; learn quickly, adapt to new technology, tools, and design trends, and recommend insights with colleagues.
  • Regularly assess and measure the impact of our creative initiatives on different audiences, ensuring that we are meeting the needs of diverse communities and continually improving our approach.
  • Ensure all CITL designs adhere to University brand standards and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in alignment with campus objectives.
  • Prioritize accessibility in educational materials, ensuring ADA compliance and availability in multiple formats for diverse needs.

Required Qualifications -

  • Bachelor\'s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a closely related field.
  • Four (4) year (48 months) of professional work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or a related professional area.
  • Demonstrated exp rience in digital art, graphic design, visual arts, animation, and/or multimedia production.

*Preferred Qualifications -*

  • Professional experience using the Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign as well as automation techniques.
  • Post-baccalaureate degree in one of the following fields: graphic design, visual design, film, media, visual arts, communication, or related fields.
  • Experience collaborating with educators and researchers on instructional and educational projects.
  • Experience working with 3D asset creation software such as Blender or Cinema4D or Autodesk Maya/3DS Max.
  • Experience working with game-engines such as Microsoft Unity and Epic Games Unreal developing interactive media.
  • Experience with design prototyping tools such as Adobe XD.
  • Experience with design process automation through custom techniques and scripts.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities -

Strong understanding of graphic design principles, methods, and practices.

Exceptional creativity and ability to generate new ideas/approaches/solutions, as well as work within established parameters, as needed.

Working knowledge of 3d design software such as Blender/Autodesk Maya/Cinema4D and game development platforms like Microsoft Unity
