School of Social Work

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) School of Social Work is a freestanding unit renowned for its achievements in research, teaching, and community engagement. The School is committed to developing and disseminating knowledge for practice, developing responsive social welfare programs, and promoting social and economic justice. Our BSW and MSW degree programs prepare students for social work practice in public and private agencies, in the areas of mental health, health care, children and family services, public school settings, and leadership and social change, and students will gain knowledge and skills to work with disempowered communities in these areas.

The School of Social Work is accepting applications for adjunct faculty to teach BSW and MSW courses in a range of curricular areas, including but not limited to: Non-profit management; Foundational social work practice courses; Healthcare policy, Social Work policies and services; Social Work and the law; Research Methods, Clinical Research; Program Evaluation; Human Behavior in the Social Environment, School Social Work leading to PEL licensure in Illinois, and specialized clinical assessment and interventions (e.g., in the areas of trauma-informed practice, substance use disorders, integrated health care, child welfare, tele-mental health, etc.).

Courses may be offered in-person on campus or fully online. Adjunct faculty will be considered for teaching opportunities starting Fall 2024.

Required Education and Experience:

Master\'s degree in Social Work (MSW) or higher; a graduate degree in a closely related field will be considered for teaching non-clinical courses such as policy, research, and non-profit management. Professional expertise in needed curricular area.

Preferred Experience:

Master\'s degree in Social Work (MSW) with LSW or LCSW preferred.

PEL license is required to teach the School Social Work courses.

Prior experience teaching and/or training in person and/or online.

Familiarity with Canvas or other online learning management systems.

Post-master\'s professional experience of 2 years or more.

Appointment Information

There are multiple positions available. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the search closes.

Please note: Candidates may be offered an affiliate, non-service appointment initially; when teaching need is determined, salary and service will be commensurate with course load.
