JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Dr. Xiangming Ji in the College of Health and Human Development is seeking a(n) Research Technologist – Life Sciences, Professional to work on microbiome on obesity

This position supports a research laboratory focusing on the impact of the gut microbiome on health using mouse models. The Technologist will be responsible for maintaining mouse colonies, preparing samples, conducting microbiological assays, and assisting with data collection and analysis.

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference will be given to applicants with degrees in biology, microbiology, animal science, nutrition, or a related field.

  • Experience working with laboratory animals, preferably mice.

  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques and microbiological assays.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with microbiome research and metabolomic analysis.

  • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and software for microbiome analysis.

  • Previous experience in a research laboratory setting.

    Skills We Need:

  • Administer special diets or treatments as required by experimental protocols.

  • Maintain detailed records of animal care, breeding, and experimental procedures.

  • Perform routine microbiological assays, such as culturing bacteria from samples, preparing growth media, and maintaining microbial cultures.

  • Conduct molecular biology techniques, including western blot, qPCR, and metabolomic analysis. A willingness to work in a fast-paced, team environment.

  • Assist in the collection of experimental data, including recording observations and entering data into databases.

    Additional Information:

This a limited-term staff appointment, funded for one year from the date of hire, with the possibility for renewal.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$34,800.00 - $50,500.00
