JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Center for Health Care and Policy Research (http://hhd.psu.edu/chcpr) (CHCPR) in the College of Health and Human Development at Penn State is seeking a Research Project Manager . CHCPR's mission is to "create and disseminate new scientific knowledge that will help private and public decision-makers to develop cost-effective services and programs that improve people's health." CHCPR faculty affiliates have a variety of disciplinary backgrounds (e.g., economics, policy, epidemiology, public health, and other social sciences) and employ a variety of research designs including quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approaches. Data sources include large existing data sets (e.g., claims data) as well as primary data collected via survey or key informant interviews. The final candidate will have the research knowledge to manage and execute projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Center Director, affiliated faculty, and research staff by managing funded research projects from implementation to close out.

  • Ensure that work plans, timelines, and deliverables are being achieved.

  • Actively participate in and manage specific research activities related to data collection, analysis, and deliverable production, including compliance.

  • Build relationships with external funders and community research partners such as health systems, community-based organizations, and faculty researchers at other institutions or in different departments within Penn State.

  • Provide expertise and guidance to Principal Investigators on research study design and solutions in support of project success.

  • Implement improvement strategies, relative guidelines, and standard operating procedures for funded projects.

  • Proactively support Center-affiliated faculty by understanding their research goals and helping to identify funding opportunities to support these research goals.

  • Arrange for funding opportunity meetings to bring together potential interested parties for the purpose of developing and submitting successful funding proposals and managing the process leading to submission.

  • Prepare, submit, and present complex reporting.

  • Plan and develop budgets, as well as post-award administration, for CHCPR funded sponsored research conducted by faculty, staff, and graduate research assistants.

  • Monitor project financial health to ensure it is on track with appropriate spending rates.

  • Supervise and assign research task responsibility to other research staff, research assistants, and student research support.

    Education and Experience Requirements:

This position will be filled at the Intermediate Professional level, which requires a Master's Degree or higher, plus one year of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Previous experience with p roject management and research administration, particularly in economics, policy, epidemiology, public health, or other social sciences.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • A bility to work in a team environment as well as independently, have strong time management, organizational, data analytics, and communication skills.

  • Solid technology skills, proficiency in Office 365, and experience with programs such as WorkDay, SIMBA, Strategic Information Management System (SIMS)

  • PMI Certification

Work Schedule:

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process

This is a limited-term staff position, funded for one year from the date of hire, with an excellent possibility for renewal.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$61,800.00 - $89,600.00
