JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Bio-Motion Systems Lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Penn State University is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to study the neuromechanics of insect flight control.  The AFOSR-sponsored project, in collaboration with UCLA, involves bridging flight control mechanisms at the system and neural level. Responsibilities:

We are particularly interested in applicants who wish to work at the interface of biology and engineering (e.g. biologists who wish to integrate an engineering framework in their research and engineers who wish to apply their quantitative skills to reverse engineer locomotion control in animals).

Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a quantitative field (engineering, biophysics, or a related field) by the start date.

Experience in quantitative analysis of animal behavior, data science, and/or modeling biological systems strongly preferred.

Strong programming skills in MATLAB and/or Python are preferred.

Additional Information: This is a term appointment, initially funded for one year with possible renewal based on performance and availability of funds.
