JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State Diet Assessment Center is seeking students to assist with a research project, starting in August 2024. Hours will be flexible, but mostly evenings. See below for more details.

The Penn State Diet Assessment Center (PSDAC) offers an exciting opportunity for undergraduate students to get involved in research. Students gain valuable nutrition experience essential for a dietetic internship program. It is also an excellent opportunity for those who want to pursue an advanced degree in nutrition or other health related profession.

We are looking to hire undergraduate students interested in training with us who would be able to continue working through the summer/fall. Employees should be nutrition majors in the Department of Nutritional Sciences or those who are seeking a minor in nutrition as part of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management or Human Development and Family Studies degree.

The job is flexible enough to accommodate the busy schedules of students; due to the nature of the study, hours will be variable week to week. It requires an extensive training program that consists of learning about diet assessment methodology, interview techniques, nutrition research software, and the research studies conducted in the PSDAC. The ideal candidate should be willing to commit to one year of employment.

The job requirements are as follows:

* Must be a sophomore or junior nutrition major, or seeking a minor in nutrition * Must be willing to work during the summer and winter/spring breaks * Must be willing to work evenings and some weekends * Must be willing to work several 2 to 4 hour shifts per week (likely 6 - 12 hours total) * Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required
