JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The University Libraries’ Strategic Technologies’ department is continuing a program to improve our initiative to create a more diverse and inclusive environment. This program has created a position for a student who contributes to the diversity of the Information Technology field. The position is a two-semester, paid internship for 10-20 hours a week on site in the Libraries. The interns will work closely with the Libraries Software Development Team on all aspects of the development process including code development, project management, code reviews, quality assurance, and deployment.
The student will get an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with IT professionals who have experience in test-driven software development in an agile development process. This will give a student who has been learning about these concepts in the classroom an opportunity to get hands-on experience with these tools in a professional environment and go from theory to application. Furthermore, the student will be assigned a mentor within Libraries Strategic Technologies to provide guidance and support throughout the program duration. At the end of the internship, the student will have a stronger resume and a portfolio that includes a number of highly desired skillsets to advance their IT career.
Required Qualifications:
Student should have experience or knowledge in computer programming, web development, systems administration, or project management.
Students must demonstrate an enthusiasm to learn, a record of collaboration and contribution to a team, strong communications skills, and the ability to stay organized with multiple competing priorities (no minimum GPA is required).
Students in Information Technology related fields are encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications:
