JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Global Learning Associate (GL Associate) serves as a key implementation coordinator for the academic engagement of Global Learning at Penn State. Reporting to the Associate Director for Global Academic Engagement (AD GAE), the GL Associate assists with work in assessment, faculty outreach, curricular integration of global learning activity, credential tracking, and event planning. This is a core position liaising with many different constituents, both within and external to Penn State Global. The GL Associate works seamlessly among the Global Engagement, Education Abroad, EDGE, and Faculty Fulbright teams to support our mission, assess our impact, and drive global learning initiatives for Penn State students, faculty and staff.
Specifically, the global learning associate will have responsibility for the following functions:
Assessment of Impact
Liaise with and learn about assessment needs of various GL teams (Education Abroad, Global Engagement, Faculty Fulbright, EDGE, Global Academic Engagement), and their stakeholders
Assist various GL teams in impact assessment of activity
Stay abreast of academic trends in Global Learning and assist Associate Director with strategy implementation
Collate, analyze, and organize data from assessment activity (data collection and analysis)
Produce annual report on global learning impact and outcomes (summary of GL activity teams)
Work with other PSG teams (MarComm and Strategic Planning) to report and represent data on GL activity
Faculty Outreach and Engagement
Develop and deploy faculty outreach and training programs under the direction of the AD for Global Academic Engagement
Support faculty efforts in assessment by linking them with resources from SITE, the Libraries, TLT, and other institution-specific and external resources, etc.
Coordinate retrieval and analysis of assessment data from faculty who are using PSG or other instruments to measure impact of their efforts on global learning
Curricular Integration Outreach
In cooperation with and under the direction of the AD for Global Academic Engagement, work with academic units to integrate GL activity into their degree program either as curricular or co-curricular engagement
Assist the AD for Global Academic Engagement with Course Mapping research and outcomes reports for academic units as it relates to Education Abroad credits
Credentialing Record Keeping
Coordinate registration for all GL Provost Endorsement programs
Maintain accurate records for all program progress and conclusion
Track credentialing program progress for eligible students (across GL activity)
Faculty Fulbright support
Provide logistical support for Faculty Fulbright events and outreach
Monitor the Penn State Faculty Fulbright email account
Track data for Faculty Fulbright advising, support, and recipients
General Global Learning support
- Assist with specific pre-departure and re-entry programming as it relates to global learning
This is an 83.3% full-time equivalency (FTE) position and will work a reduced, 10-month schedule from August 15th through June 15th.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher and two (2) years of experience (or equivalent combination)
We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage and prioritize tasks with minimal direction
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook in particular)
Demonstrated collaboration and problem-solving skills
Experience with program assessment

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:
$42,100.00 - $61,000.00
