JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Pennsylvania State University (https://psu.edu) is seeking innovative and accomplished candidates for the position of Executive Director of Enrollment Marketing and Communications. This senior leadership position reports directly to the Vice President for Enrollment Management (EM). Encompassing the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the Office of the University Registrar and the Office of Student Aid, the Executive Director will lead the development and execution of marketing and communication strategy designed to optimize, elevate and enhance institutional market position and market profiles while maintaining a mission-balanced demographic and financial mix across all 19 Penn State campuses.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing multi-channeled communications plans and multi-year calendars designed to help secure Penn State’s preferred enrollment future by systematically and strategically building the new student pipeline; and creating a unified and consistent enrollment experience for students and families from prospect stage through the first day of class that reflects the institution’s brand.

  • Direct, develop, and implement annual strategic communications plan designed to successfully achieve enrollment goal and institutional priorities related to access and equity. Continually assess performance to ensure annual improvements in message delivery, efficiency, and consistency.

  • Fully leverage CRM system (Slate) to customize and personalize the recruitment experience by utilizing 3rd party data and funnel behavior to continually refine and optimize strategy and future action.

  • Work collaboratively with unit leaders, both inside and outside of EM unit, in creating a unified approach to include a coherent brand architecture and digital platforms.

  • Assume leadership role in communication projects, websites and publications that support core enrollment functions.

  • Lead and coach a team of eight marketing and communications professionals within EM and collaborate with College/Campus enrollment and communications staff to advance clear, consistent messaging, stories, multimedia content and social content in support of university and divisional goals related to student quantity, quality, diversity, and success.

  • Serve as the expert in determining optimal modes for message delivery and develop policies, processes and procedures designed to ensure high quality content and timely delivery of information for students and their families across all communication platforms and channels.

  • Direct internal communications within the EM offices and key internal partners to ensure integration and alignment of efforts, timely project completion, and high quality deliverables.

  • Supervising the EM communications team, providing central support to individual offices, identifying communications resources to be shared, and ensuring the accuracy and consistency of communication.

  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with the university's Office of Strategic Communications and other communications colleagues across campuses to encourage sharing of resources and message alignment to the targeted audiences. Support promotion and communication needs of on/off campus events to ensure brand consistency.

Education and experience:

Minimally requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years of marketing and communications experience, including 3 years of supervisory experience, o r an equivalent combination of education and experience . Experience preferably being in enrollment management.

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Change management.

  • Demonstrated experience defining and leading teams charged with developing and implementing enrollment marketing and communications strategies.

  • Demonstrated work experience in researching, planning, organizing, coordinating, and completing major cross-functional initiatives, projects or presentations.

  • Proven ability to learn the requirements and business needs of stakeholders to effectively manage and prioritize deliverables.

  • Familiarity and experience working with enrollment management model and a keen understanding and appreciation for trends and research related to admissions, financial aid, diversity and inclusion, access, affordability and student success.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$97,100.00 - $145,700.00
