JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Animal Science at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor of Poultry Science. This is a 48-week, non-tenure line faculty position with 60% Extension and 40% Teaching responsibilities.

The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Penn State Extension Poultry Team and provide leadership for youth poultry Extension and outreach programs. Programs may include state and national 4-H poultry programs and contests, FFA career development events, "Embryology in the Classroom", and other relevant youth poultry programs. Undergraduate teaching and advising responsibilities include courses on poultry evaluation, judging, selection, and coordination of the Poultry and Avian Science Minor. The successful candidate will also serve as an advisor for the Poultry Science Club. The faculty member will contribute to collaborative scholarship across the Department and College of Agricultural Sciences and engage in appropriate professional and service activities within and outside the Department.

Applicants must have a master's and/or doctoral degree in Poultry Science, Animal Science, or a closely related field. The successful candidate must have completed all degree requirements by the appointed date. Knowledge and experience relevant to the commercial poultry industry are desirable. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to develop and deliver impactful youth programs using face-to-face and virtual formats. Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills to work effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, peers, and industry clientele are essential. The Department is especially interested in candidates who, through their Extension and teaching efforts, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community at Penn State.
