JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Engineering, Department of Nuclear Engineering and Laboratory of Materials in Medicine in University Park, PA led by Prof. Dipanjan Pan is seeking qualified applicants for the position of a non-tenure -track Research Faculty in the rank of Assistant Research Professor. The laboratory focuses currently on developing novel materials for biomedical application. Studies include design of nanomaterials, novel DNA probes, characterization, non-invasive imaging, and in vitro and in vivo experiments in animals. The candidate should have a background and/or career interest in chemistry, bioengineering with expertise in nanomaterials. Studies require development of novel nucleic acid-based probes for infectious disease, CVD, and synthesis and application of 2D materials. Candidates should be well-trained in the basic techniques that are required for running the project like organic synthesis, nanoparticle characterization, Western Blot, molecular biology techniques, e.g., ELISA, Real time PCR, confocal microscope and flow cytometry, and in vivo experiments. Candidate should be able to work independently in the lab without instructions. The other mandatory responsibilities will include helping the PI to secure external grants/contracts and participate as co-investigator or co-PI, mentoring graduate students and postdocs in the lab and write manuscript.

Candidates for this position should have an advanced degree (PhD) in Chemistry, Materials Science or Bioorganic Chemistry or related fields with expertise in both qualitative and quantitative analysis.

Candidates should be independently motivated, creative, and have a desire to learn new techniques and approaches. We are looking for a team player to work within a highly multidisciplinary group of scientists.
