JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness (Clearinghouse) at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, is seeking applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Research Professor to assist in the scientific development, implementation, dissemination, and evaluation of projects and curriculum-based programming designed to serve veterans.

The Clearinghouse is an applied research center, nationally recognized for its work on improving the health and well-being of military service members and their families. Projects focus on topics such as parenting, building family resilience, preventing family violence, enhancing child and youth development, suicide prevention, obesity prevention, evaluation of mental health treatments, veteran transitions from military to civilian life, and families at risk, among numerous others.

Given our focus on the Land Grant Mission of Penn State, we have also partnered with the University of Minnesota to co-lead the Children, Youth, and Families at Risk Professional Development and Technical Assistance Center (CYFAR-PDTA). Sponsored by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), CYFAR aims to improve the quality and quantity of comprehensive community-based programs for at-risk children, youth, and families supported by the Cooperative Extension System. The CYFAR program mission is to marshal resources of the Land-Grant and Cooperative Extension Systems to develop and deliver educational programs that equip limited-resource families and youth who are at risk for not meeting basic human needs with the skills they need to lead positive, productive, contributing lives.

Responsibilities: The Assistant Research Professor will:

  • serve as the coaching coordinator responsible for selecting, onboarding, continuing training, developing, assigning, and evaluating CYFAR PDTA Center coaches at various land-grant institutions.

  • manages coach reporting requirements and develops a site visit impact report for USDA-NIFA. In addition, this position will support the use of evidence-informed practices and advance the evidence-base for this type of technical assistance through applied scholarship. This includes serving as a professional development coordinator for CYFAR grantees.

  • be responsible for identifying webinar topics, securing speakers, and facilitating national CYFAR webinars.

  • be responsible for scheduling and facilitating networking calls for CYFAR grantees. Responsible for developing content and delivering monthly newsletters for CYFAR grantees.

  • collaborate with a team of professionals and subject matter experts, both internal and external, across various topic areas to meet research and programmatic goals.

    Education and Experience: Minimum requirements include a completed Ph.D. degree at the time of hire in a social science field, as well as advanced evaluative, statistical, and writing skills.

Work Arrangement: This position offers a flexible work arrangement and can operate remotely or a combination of on-site and remote work.
