JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Schreyer Honors College at the Pennsylvania State University is seeking an Admissions Counselor to provide consultative services to prospective and current students and their families regarding the programs offered in the Schreyer Honors College, participate in the selection process of scholars, and market the Schreyer Honors College nationally. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations and be responsible for the following:

  • Evaluate applications and admit candidates to the College.

  • Respond to direct requests from individual applicants, parents, and counselors through phone, email, and meet with visitors to the office.

  • Present at recruitment and enrollment services events for prospective, admitted, and current students.

  • Create and implement outreach programs/presentations targeted to specific strategic populations. Execute the College’s recruitment plan including travel, and follow up with prospective students/families through the student life cycle both in-person and virtually.

  • Collaborate with other University unit/campuses to develop and deliver a consistent message to prospective and current students during the enrollment life cycle.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of offices and activities directly related to the admissions process - Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, Housing and Food Services, LEAP, NSO, and other related student support areas.

  • Stay connected with relevant national and regional admission trends.

  • May assist in the supervision of student workers.

Education and Experience:

This position typically requires a Associate’s degree or higher plus 2 year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The following clearances must be successfully completed for this position:

  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check

  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History

  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check

    This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to clearances.

This position is expected to be primarily onsite, but may offer occasional opportunities for flexible work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$46,400.00 - $67,300.00
