Description
Position Summary: The senior project manager (SPM) is responsible for coordinating and assigning work to various teams in the Communications department ensuring deadlines are met and all projects are completed and approved by appropriate stakeholders according to schedule. The SPM works closely with internal stakeholders across Unity to ensure the requirements for projects are understood, documented, and communicated clearly to all parties in Communications. The position supervises the work of another project manager in Communications.
Essential Job Functions:
Vet incoming requests from stakeholders and determine what additional information needs to be obtained before the project is initiated.
Evaluate, open, document, and schedule projects using JIRA software system.
Assign work across Communications teams (writers, designers, editing, proofing, digital, multimedia, etc.) ensuring that work is covered, and teams aren’t overloaded. Communicate any changes needed to all parties.
Oversee the work of a second project manager in the Communications department.
Work in a fast-paced environment, balancing the needs of multiple concurrent projects under tight deadlines.
Track all projects in Jira software. Additionally, act as JIRA subject matter expert for others using JIRA across the department. Train new employees on Communication processes and procedures with JIRA.
Work closely with Communications team members and stakeholders to deliver all assigned projects on deadline and to the quality expected.
Serve as liaison between Communications team members and stakeholders across the organization. Hold regular stakeholder check-in meetings to review projects in queue.
At times work with internal print shop and other vendors to determine correct specifications for print projects. Deliver final artwork to print outlets both in-house and outside as needed.
Identify process gaps and implement process improvements across the department.
Regular and reliable attendance and adherence to assigned schedule.
Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures per the guidebook including all safety requirements.
Utilize electronic time management system to input time, attendance, and time off requests.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or business preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years prior project management or job trafficking experience, preferably in a marketing department or an ad agency setting.
Superior organizational skills with ability to juggle multiple simultaneous projects and meet competing deadlines.
Strong ability to thoughtfully communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholder groups including executives.
Should have a strong understanding of all aspects of marketing and communications and be familiar with the creative process.
Proven project management experience. Ability to develop timelines and project plans.
Must have the ability to adapt to change as requirements or needs of stakeholders change.
Must possess the ability to think logically about how modifications to one project will impact the timing and/or outcomes of another.
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, market-driven environment.
Experience with project management software required, such as Jira or Trello.
Strong sense of urgency.
Computer Skills:
Proficient end user of MS Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
JIRA experience a plus.
