The Role:

This is a technical, customer-facing role, the prime purpose of which is to conduct investigations to establish both policy and legal liability and to settle claims on behalf of our Insurer clients. This will be mainly desk based though in-person investigation is expected within your area. You will be managing third party public liability property damage claims of varying complexity ranging from construction liability, public liability, and products liability to motor trade. You will with working both independently and under licenced referral managing claims up to £100k in value.

You will need to be experienced in liability claims and with a background of dealing with property damage claims. An ability to identify suspicious information and apply correct procedures to avoid fraudulent claims, identify and evaluate evidence is essential.

An ability to self-organise is fundamental to this role as you will be managing correspondence, dealing with incoming calls, client updates and maintaining a strict diary processes to manage agreed service standards.

This is a homeworking role though there is the opportunity to split your time between the office and home, which can help support a healthy work/life balance. When you do spend time in our office, you’ll experience bright and open surroundings which offer excellent areas for collaboration as well as desk space. It’s an ideal environment for working alongside and interacting with fellow colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate the allegations made against policyholders, and to provide detailed advice and recommendations on policy and legal liability

  • Collate all relevant information, photographs, statements and documentation, to ensure that liability arguments are supported and sustainable

  • Identify fraud risks and concerns

  • Maintain proactive contact with all parties involved in the claims process and deliver results within agreed service standards.

  • To undertake litigation management where appropriate

  • Ensuring all databases, files and correspondence are correctly maintained providing a clear history of events, actions and explaining quantum assessment

We are looking for:

  • Team working and collaboration skills

  • Good understanding of insurance law and policy wording interpretation

  • Knowledge and skills in understanding of contract, statute and civil liability

  • Strong investigation skills and attention to detail

  • Understanding how work with corporate clients, small business, Insurers and Brokers

  • Influencing skills to gain agreement to proposals, plans and ideas

  • The ability to listen and respond to people effectively whilst displaying empathy.

  • Good communicators who are clear and concise

  • The motivation to provide a prompt, efficient and personalised service to customers (external and internal)

About you:

You’ll have a proactive attitude, self-motivated and capable of working on your own initiative. You will also:

  • Have a property (PLPD) biased background with the ability to fully investigate all types of liability claims

  • Be able to interact with all interested stakeholders including claims staff, underwriters, policyholders, brokers and claimants

  • The ability to apply a thorough knowledge of current case law, common law/statute and regulations

  • Be willing to go the extra mile and provide exemplary customer service

  • Possess accurate keyboard skills

  • Have a clean full driving licence

  • Have a good working knowledge of MS Word, Outlook and Excel

  • Be extremely well organised and capable of influencing others

  • Insurance qualifications are desirable, but equal consideration will also be given to those with the relevant experience
