Lockheed Martin College Engineering Intern in Uniondale, New York

Description: Lockheed Martin RMS is seeking a full-time 2025 summer Fleet Engineering intern.

In this role you will have the responsibility of conducting systems engineering functions for the Navy Fleet Ballistic Missile program. The role will involve learning about the Trident Submarine Navigation system and supporting the fleet, and forward site field engineers on daily maintenance schedule reporting, refit submarine tasks, advanced support inboard and outboard maintenance, problem investigation and troubleshooting tasks to support the fleet SSBN SWS Navigation subsystem operational life-cycle maintenance.

The successful candidate will be a college sophomore and junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education. The candidate will have academic or professional hands-on experience assembling systems (i.e. hardware components/robotics) . The candidate must have basic knowledge of system design and architecture.

Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. This intern position is on-site at Lockheed Martin Mitchel Field, NY with potential travel to forward sites.

Basic Qualifications:

• College sophomore and junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Hardware Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.

• Academic or professional experience hands on experiences assembling and testing hardware (i.e. robotics).

• Academic or professional experience with processor design and architecture.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Desired Skills:

• Academic or professional experience Reading and understanding schematics.

• Basic knowledge of full system development life-cycle development (requirements, design, test, integration & test, delivery) of estimation and control theory including Kalman filtering and smoothing.

• Basic knowledge of systems engineering - with system and component specifications, understanding of requirement flow-down, allocation, validation and verification processes.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Washington or Washington DC is $20,904 - $61,672 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $24,024 - $67,288. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
