Curtiss-Wright Corporation Machine Shop Supervisor in UK, United Kingdom

We are looking for a Machine Shop Supervisor to join our Sensors Division at our state-of-the-art facility by Bournemouth Airport.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and assuring the set up and operation of all standard machines, including tool and die making, as well as general experimental machinery, recommending design changes in equipment, material and/or procedures as needed.

Your Challenge

  • Developing machine shop procedures in coordination with company standards and objectives

  • Prioritizing and maintaining work schedules based on production deadlines and ensuring deadlines are met

  • Periodically checking machining operations to ensure operations are working to tolerance.

  • Maintaining a reporting system that reflects schedules, performance, and procedures.

  • Making budgetary recommendations for capital expenditures and manpower for machine shop area.

Your Expertise

  • A "Hands-on, Can-do approach" to lead, manage and organise a small team, providing support from the technical challenges of machining activities, and to machine product.

  • An under-standing of Environmental, Health and Safety needs within a machining environment, conducting risk assessment and analysis and promoting safe working practices

  • Demonstration of good housekeeping techniques, continuous improvement, 6S reviews, TPM activity, organising equipment maintenance and repairs.

  • Some programming experience using ProtoTrak, ProTurn (XYZ machines), Siemens 828D and OneCnc or an enthusiasm to learn

  • Commuter literate Microsoft Office product and use of an ERP system for Job loading, job logging, running reports, run time analysis

  • Technical support to the wider team of machining related activities for new products, product improvements, cost analysis, tool design.

  • An appreciation of the Quality needs of an Aerospace organization
