We are seeking a Security Systems Engineer 2 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business Unit. As part of (SES) Strategic Business Unit you will be part of a team that designs, engineers, integrates, operates and maintains electronic security services inclusive of intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, it systems, perimeter defense and command and control systems for federal, local and commercial customers across high-growth markets.

What you’ll do:

As a Security Systems Engineer 2, you will become an expert in evaluating and deploying various

technologies to improve our customers' physical security posture. You should be able to quickly and thoroughly understand customers’ needs and translate that into system designs, technologies

capabilities, define systems implementation and adoption plans that can be deployed at scale for global systems.

This role allowed the opportunity to become an expert in one or more technology sets in Physical

Security: Access Control, Video Management (CCTV) and Unified Systems, Intrusion Detection,

Perimeter Detection Systems, Biometrics and Devices Detection Systems and more. Develop further expertise on vendor software and hardware products, establish and foster vendor relationships, collaborate and work closely with vendor product teams to provide product evaluation feedback and contribute to improving deployed solutions for our customers. Have an understanding of the IT environments needed to operate in and collaborate with network security teams to securely deploy the best solutions. Work with a team of Security Engineers, System Administrators and other cross-functional teams to share your knowledge and gain an even deeper understanding of how large enterprises are secured.

Here's what your typical project will look like:

  • Manage physical security system support to meet service level agreements

  • Analyze physical security system performance and recommend improvements

  • Resolve complex system issues for physical security systems and networks

  • Triage customer support calls, providing Tier 1 help desk support and Tier 2 escalation as needed • Communicate with customers, manufacturers, vendors, and technical specialists

  • General Maintenance and programming support of ACS & VMS infrastructure to include but not be limited to:

o Firmware and Software upgrades

o Cyber remediation related to physical security solutions 2 M.C. Dean Sensitive

o Nomenclature updates and adjustments

  • Document Control including reviews and updates to Apps & Tech Documentation to include but not be limited to:

o Programming guides

o Commissioning Templates

o Technology standards

  • Develop training material and provide training to system users and other system support personnel as needed

  • Analyze and modify preventive maintenance checklists for system changes

  • Troubleshoot system performance issues and implement corrective actions

  • Perform preventive maintenance actions including system back-ups, error log reviews, database size analysis, and integrity checks

  • Organize and prepare detailed documentation and dashboards of system performance, including service request records, and analysis

  • Perform desktop hardware and operating system setup, imaging software loading, and antivirus updates

  • Implementation of Server and Workstation patching and STIG remediation

  • Perform all duties with minimal managerial supervision

  • Small Project Support to include but not be limited to:

o Attending Project calls

o Review of technical submittals

o Review of Commissioning documentation

  • Conduct existing site technology audit on site at live locations

  • Conduct project commissioning & punch list generation for active projects

  • Develop procedures to validate system configuration, data input and data migration. Ensure high data quality ingestion in new and existing systems. Develop test plans, deployment plans and administration procedures.

  • Identify candidate technologies and solutions based on customers’ needs and requirements.

  • Evaluate existing and new solutions against defined requirements and industry best practices.

  • Become an expert on the system and be able to communicate how the system enables the solution and identify limitations and improvements.

  • Work with internal teams to assess and resolve all privacy, network security, and scalability concerns for the systems.

  • Collaborate with installation, deployment, administration and other cross-functional teams to define standards, provide recommendations and guidance on solution deployments, resolve issues, and improve systems’ features.

  • Continually re-evaluate the systems to ensure they are still effective and actively assess how new technology developments or changes in the environment may require new solutions.

  • Develop further expertise and become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on security engineering needs and requirements for system performance, installations, and sustainment programs and provide recommended improvements per industry best practices.

Key Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience with Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or relevant Technical Discipline

  • Familiar with programs such as: MS Office Suite, MS SharePoint, AutoCad (or similar), Bluebeam

  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced collaborative environment

  • Effective communication

  • Experience with Systems Engineering and Administration

  • Hands on experience designing and deploying Physical Security Systems

  • Application and System administration experience in performing triage on system problems, resolving system problems, analyzing system data to prevent problems, updating lab and evaluation environments, upgrade and migration plans to implement new and improved systems.

  • Experience designing and maintaining engineering solutions

  • Requires system administrator experience in performing triage on system problems, resolving the system problems, analyzing system data to prevent problems, implementing new workstations, and system extensions.

  • Requires 2 + years of experience programming/administrating Physical Access Control Systems.

  • Requires an understanding of Windows patching and vulnerability remediation.

  • Requires basic knowledge of large scale networking, VLANS and routing.

  • Requires minimal travel; Anticipated at 5% of the year or less

  • Strong oral, written and presentation skills, self-motivated and driven

  • Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.

  • Strong MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desired qualifications and Certifications:

  • Certification\Experience in CCure 9000 Access Control Systems. Candidate should have in[1]depth knowledge and understanding of how these systems operate and be familiar with flaws and improvements.

  • Certification\Experience in Genetec Video and Unified Management Systems. Candidate should have in-depth knowledge and understanding of how these systems operate and be familiar with flaws and improvements.

  • Automation, Programming and scripting experience – MS SQL Server, PowerShell, Python or others. Experience with systems integration tools and protocols (APIs, SOAP and REST, XML/JSON), database design and query development.

  • Install and load system operating software.

  • Experience programming and administrating large Access Control and Video Management Systems of any type.

  • Experience with installation, troubleshooting, and testing of security electronics equipment.

  • Working knowledge and/or certification with communications and network protocols and services including TCP/IP, RS232, RS485, networking knowledge (TCP, UDP, RTP, RTSP and others).

  • Experience/Certifications with networking equipment like Cisco, Juniper, Brocade, etc.

  • Understanding of IT systems, OS functionality and server infrastructure. Corresponding vendor certifications include Associate and Professional certifications from Microsoft, VMWare, and Unix (any version).
