The Idaho State Department of Agriculture is currently recruiting temporary Boat Station Pest Detection Specialists for the Plant Industries division located at a Boat Inspection Station in Centennial and Shoshone. Employees will report to Twin Falls, ID.

NOTIFICATION: This non-classified position is exempt from classified state service and the rules of the Division of Human Resources and the Idaho Personnel Commission. This position does have benefits.

Example of Duties

This job is part of the agency’s statewide invasive species prevention program.

These positions will serve as members of watercraft inspection teams stationed at the Inspection Stations at Centennial and Shoshone Parks in Twin Falls, Idaho.

These positions inspect and decontaminate watercraft to prevent the spread of zebra/quagga mussels and other Aquatic Invasive Species(AIS). The position will use an established protocol to inspect watercraft and conduct hot washes on high-risk conveyances; conducting quality control activities at watercraft inspection stations; setting up and taking down portable traffic signs daily; and properly entering detailed watercraft data on an electronic inspection form.

Minimum Qualifications

These qualifications are mandatory requirements:

· Good communication skills

· Ability to pay attention to detail when conducting watercraft inspections

· Work in various types of weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.)

· Ability to lift 50 lbs. with or without a reasonable accommodation

· Ability to bend and crawl underneath watercraft when necessary

· Possibility of working evenings, weekends, or long hours

· Valid driver’s license
