The Idaho State Department of Agriculture is currently recruiting for temporary Boat Station Pest Detection Specialist in the Plant Industries division located at a Boat Station near Redfish Lake.

SPECIAL NOTIFICATION: This non-classified position is exempt from classified state service and the rules of the Division of Human Resources and the Idaho Personnel Commission.

Housing options may be provided by ISDA including a United States Forest Service bunk house and/or RV spots.

This position is approximately 40-hours a week, and is expected to begin around May 12, 2024, and will end around September 30th.

This positiondoes nothave benefits.

Example of Duties

This job is part of the agency’s statewide invasive species prevention program. This position will serve as a member of a watercraft inspection team stationed at the Redfish Lake Inspection Station in Stanley, Idaho.

These positions inspect watercraft to prevent the spread of zebra/quagga mussels and other Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) from infested states. The position will use an established protocol to inspect watercraft and conduct hot washes on high-risk conveyances; conducting quality control activities at watercraft inspection stations; setting up and taking down portable traffic signs on daily basis; and properly entering detailed watercraft data on an electronic inspection form.

Minimum Qualifications

These qualifications are mandatory requirements.

· Good communication skills

· Ability to pay attention to detail when conducting watercraft inspections

· Work in various types of weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.)

· Ability to lift 50 lbs. with or without a reasonable accommodation

· Ability to bend and crawl underneath watercraft, when necessary and with or without a reasonable accommodation

· Available to work evenings, weekends, and long hours

· Reliable transportation to go between job sites

· Valid driver’s license

Supplemental Information

Desirable Qualifications: This qualification is not required; however, if you have the related background, it may increase your score.

· Aquatic biology, ecology or field inspection experience

· Experience with pressure washers
