Job Description

CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY

Performs Landscape and Facility Maintenance at County West and County Courthouse. Will be required to work

independently and be detail oriented to perform tasks to the best of their ability with minimal supervision. Duties include

mowing, weeding, irrigation, repair, parking lot maintenance and cleanup duties. The work is performed under the direct

supervision of the Parks Director and Facility Manager. Landscape/Facility Maintenance Technicians may provide direction

to seasonal employees. The principal duties of this class are performed outdoors and indoors and may include working in

adverse weather conditions and hazards involving the use of power tools, equipment and hazardous chemicals.

Duties / Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(illustrative only and may vary by assignment)

Performs general landscape/building and grounds inspection and maintenance, including mowing, trimming,

weeding, irrigation, aerating, application of pesticides and fertilizers, and snow removal;

Performs general landscape and cleanup duties, including trash and debris removal;

Maintains open spaces, lawns, flower beds and planting areas, parking lots and public areas;

Performs turf, tree, flower, and shrub planting, trimming and pruning, and removal;

Performs routine maintenance and repairs on motorized, mechanical and grounds keeping equipment;

Performs operation, installation, maintenance, and repair of automated irrigation systems, including lines and heads;

Repairs vandalism and performs maintenance on buildings and structures, including painting, plumbing, carpentry,

and related semi-skilled building trades work;

Assists during construction projects;

Attain Idaho Professional Applicator License with OH endorsement within 6 months of employment. Insecticide

endorsement within 1 yr. of employment;

Attain ISA Certified Arborist certification within 5 yrs. of employment;

Provides information and answers inquiries from the public;

Assists other department and County employees as needed or requested;

Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with County policies, procedures, and safety practices.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Qualifications

CLASSIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for an individual

to satisfactorily perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be successful in the position.

Knowledge of:

Grounds maintenance skills, including but not limited to, mowing, planting, weeding, pruning, irrigation, fertilization,

turf and/or pest control, and snow removal;

Building custodial skills including, but not limited to, cleaning floors, windows, and fixtures;

Building trade skills, including but not limited to, carpentry, painting, electrical, and plumbing;

Operation and maintenance of irrigation systems;

Grounds keeping equipment maintenance and repair skills;

Applicable regulations and policies regarding safe application of pesticides.

County policies regarding safe work practices relating to use of heavy equipment, power tools, and grounds keeping

equipment.

Skill and Ability to:

Operate and maintain power equipment, including but not limited to, grounds keeping and turf equipment, riding and

walk-behind mowers, trimmers, chainsaw, tr actor, snow removal equipment, and related equipment;

Operate hand tools;

Operate a motor vehicle;

Operate, adjust, and monitor automated sprinkler control systems;

Operate heavy equipment including, but not limited to, backhoe, skid steer, and tractor;

Maintain maintenance records, logs, and documentation;

Work on multiple projects, set priorities, and allocate resources for project completion;

Speak clearly and communicate accurate information to others;

Use English to communicate effectively with others;

Listen carefully to, understand, and effectively communicate through oral, written, and interpersonal communication

channels;

Follow verbal and written instructions;

Work independently and exercise initiative, with general guidance and supervision;

Use good judgment to make sound and reasonable decisions and problem-solving skills to respond to customer
