U.S. Marine Corps ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR SUPERVISOR in Twentynine Palms, California

Summary You will serve as an ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR SUPERVISOR in the Range Training Area Maintenance Section of the OFFICE OF THE COMMANDING GENERAL. Responsibilities You will plan weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates. You will select workers and assign tasks to be performed, explaining work requirements, methods and procedures. You will develop performance standards, counsel employees on performance and make formal and informal performance appraisals. You will perform safety management responsibilities to include attending safety meetings and coordinating safety requirements with base range safety and installation safety officers. You will ensure that subordinates are adequately informed of their responsibilities concerning hazardous materials/waste within the work area. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to independently perform the most difficult and complex tasks as an expert or have been consulted by other employees in difficult situations performing duties including those of a supervisor in the Engineering Equipment Operator trade such as: planning and coordinating the use of Range maintenance personnel, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools; establishing deadlines, priorities, work sequences, and planning work assignments; providing recommendations to changes in schedules, priorities, and work sequences; planning and scheduling of leave; counseling subordinates and addressing informal complaints and grievances; maintaining a comprehensive safety plan; and promoting Equal Employment Opportunity initiatives. Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Incumbent may lift and carry weights up to 50 pounds for short distances. Work requires limited amounts of walking and standing. Work is mostly outdoors on the training range or in yards requiring extensive walking, standing, stooping, and bending. Wears protective clothing such as gloves, steel toe boots, coveralls, safety glasses, and hard hats as required/directed. A high level of exposure to potentially explosive items, hazardous materials, dust, and extreme temperatures is expected, exposure to which cannot be reduced or eliminated.
