Waste Connections has an immediate opening for a Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Tuscaloosa, AL.

Our Diesel Mechanic will perform repairs and preventative maintenance services on our trucks and equipment. We seek individuals with a leadership mentality and desire to grow with promotional opportunities in this role.

Pay Rate: $24.00/hr plus approximately 10 or so hours of overtime weekly.

(Overtime is time and a half after 40 hrs)

Schedule: 12:00pm start time averaging approximately 10 hours per day.

Monday-Friday with occasional Saturdays.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs repairs (including electrical and hydraulic systems) and assigned preventive maintenance services.

  • Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.

  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.

  • Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.

  • Reviews and completes repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.

  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.

Requirements –

  • Valid Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement.

  • Ability to lift 50lbs repeatedly throughout the day.

  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
