Responsibilities

As the Director, Ethics Integration for our Ascension Oklahoma, and Wisconsin ministries, you will have the opportunity to direct the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and strategies for issues regarding bioethics and organizational ethics. Please note this position will require an on-site presence at either our Tulsa, OK or Milwaukee, WI office. Flexibility for travel (minimal) between the two ministries for on-site consultations and meetings will be needed.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Provide support to leadership teams to ensure a highly reliable Catholic ministry identity, consistent with The Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services.

  • Provide Strategic and operational leadership for clinical ethics programming with the ministry markets.

  • Provide subject matter expertise relative to organizational ethics and church relations within the ministry markets.

  • Provide and coordinate ethics consultations and chart interventions as needed.

  • Assist with developing and providing ethics education resources and programs.

  • Serve as a resource to leadership, committees and teams requiring ethics representation.

Requirements

Education:

  • Master's in Healthcare Ethics, Bioethics or Theology required.

  • PhD preferred.

Work Experience:

  • 5 years of experience required.

  • 10 years of experience preferred.

  • 2 years of leadership or management experience required.

  • 5 years of leadership or management experience preferred.

Additional Preferences

  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the Catholic moral tradition, including application of the Ethical and Religious Directives to complex clinical care issues.

  • Experience in health care, preferably Catholic health care, especially working with ethics committees and performing clinical ethics consultations and ethics education.

  • Experience in evaluating and structuring values-compatible mergers, acquisitions, affiliations, and agreements with other-than Catholic organizations.

  • Extensive knowledge of and demonstrated familiarity with the following: Health Care Ethics (with a concentration in Clinical Bioethics), the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services, Catholic Social Thought, health care systems and institutions, health care law, health care administration, including ethics committees and processes of clinical consultation.
