Job Description SUMMARY Under moderate supervision, sets up and operates computer numerical control lathes, mills and machining centers to cut, shape, or form metal work pieces to specification by performing the following duties: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.) Performs basic operation of equipment to produce to rate and meet quality standards. Loads material into machine and unloads parts after operation. Monitors and removes metal chips from tools and equipment and disposes of them in the proper container. Monitors machine condition and reports and unusual noises or occurrences to supervisor or lead. Monitors cutting conditions and alerts lead or supervisor if tools are not cutting properly. Performs housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and orderly workstation and performs basic machine upkeep, such as wiping down outside surface of machine, lubrication, etc. May hand Deburr or sand parts, as needed. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE At least 1 year related CNC lathe or mill experience or equivalent combination of experience and training. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine data on routers and SPC charts. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to use math skills to solve problems. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
