The Advanced Hypersonic Weapon (AHW) Directorate within the Advanced Technology (AT) Strategic Business Unit is looking for a highly motivated Program Manager (PM) to lead the Hypersonic major acquisition contract. This Hypersonic PM will report to the Hypersonic Portfolio Director and will be responsible for all aspects of the program execution to improve current design to achieve compliance to operational requirements and ensure safety, suitability and effectiveness of the system for production and fielding.

Key responsibilities of the Hypersonic PM include leading a group of Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leads and multiple suppliers to fulfill contract requirements ensuring on-time deliveries and program performance in adherence to the business Annual Operating Plan (AOP) through EVMS practices for cost and schedule control. The PM is expected to collaborate with the other program managers to ensure synergy across the programs in the portfolio and maximize efficiencies for the government customer.

This role is onsite in beautiful Tucson, AZ!

This position is contingent on the award of the contract, which is a sole-source pursuit with award expected in March 2025.

What You Will Do

  • Accountable to the program director for the overall success of this program achieving contractual milestones with strict adherence to cost and schedule expectations.

  • Work closely with the Director to follow a cadence of operation, and an execution team that is organized for the success of the programs

  • Apply disciplined risk & opportunity management practices to achieve balance of cost, quality, and schedule performance

  • Collaborate with other program managers to maximize efficiencies and ensure alignment of activities

  • Coordinate and align interactions, dependencies, and transactions between programs, as well as government furnished dependencies

  • Coordinates with supporting functional organizations such as Engineering, Finance, Contracts, Supply Chain, Operations, Security, Requirements and Capabilities, and others.

  • Advise and manage as necessary to ensure successful program execution and prioritize resources where necessary.

  • Participate on the development and execution program execution and growth strategies

  • Understands and represents customer needs to leadership

  • Support and/or lead regular program execution reviews

    Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of prior relevant experience, OR an Advanced degree in a relevant field and minimum 10 years of experience

  • Program management and/or leadership experience

  • EVMS Certified or experience with EVMS or CAM

  • Experience with IPDS, Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), Risk & Opportunity Management, or similar program management tools

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required

    Qualifications We Prefer

  • Advanced Degree with a concentration in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

  • Program Management Level 4 Certification, or on path to achieve within 12 months

  • Demonstrated successful P&L responsibility of a program at least $25M in annual sales

  • Strong team management to motivate and develop team members and peers

  • More than 6 years of applicable program management and leadership experience to include multiple IPT leadership roles in different programs and previous Execution or Program Manager roles

  • Experience working with Air Force, Navy, MDA, or other US customers on government programs (large/complex)

  • Previous experience supporting programs in a complex classified environment, with demonstrated knowledge of security practices and processes

  • Experience in multiple programs across different lifecycles and government customer

  • An active and in-scope Top Secret US security clearance

The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
