Unity House Housing Support Legal Advocate in Troy, New York

$750 sign on bonus!

Brand new position for Unity House of Troy’s Community Resources Program!

Come help clients in obtaining and maintaining affordable housing and also assist those in danger of losing their home! can navigate the courts, check out the Housing Support Legal Advocate position!

Responsibilities:

Provide housing support to families/individuals facing eviction and other housing issues.

Assist clients with preventing eviction.

Accompany clients to eviction court.

Provide referrals and linkages to supportive services.

Provide assistance in finding safe affordable housing.

Provide education regarding tenant rights and responsibilities.

Develop and maintain dynamic relationships both internally and externally.

Promote a culture of inclusion and belonging.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in one of the following; Social Services, Criminal Justice or Paralegal. Experience in landlord/tenant work preferred. 2-4 years of experience assisting clients with housing and eviction matters preferred. Knowledge of NYS eviction law. Valid driver license. Must be comfortable accompanying clients to court and advocating in a court room setting. Must be organized and very well spoken.
