Qualifications for Employment

Education (Minimum Requirements):

Associate’s degree and three (3) years’ experience. Experience must demonstrate ability to perform job functions. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Employment Experience Preferred:

Experience in teaching, training, standardized testing, or counseling preferred.

Previous experience as a TASC and/or GED Test proctor, examiner, chief examiner, or test coordinator.

Pertinent Other:

• Must be of high moral character and integrity.

• Must have excellent proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing the English language.

• Must take responsibility for the accuracy and timeliness of testing information.

• Must have solid background in use of technology.

• Must be approved by New York State High School Equivalency State Administrator.

Nature and Scope of Duties

The Testing Assistant reports to the Assistant Coordinator of Student Support Services – Testing and performs the following duties:

• Assist with TABE Test sessions as needed by testing department, including student registration in DRC Insight system, test preparation, test proctoring.

• Preparing and proctoring GED Ready test sessions per policy and procedures.

• Recording and filing results as per Enrollment Management Services protocols.

• Processing GED applications prior to scheduling of and registration for an approved GED test session.

• Maintaining testing department records as required by department guidelines.

• Maintaining all training and certifications required to be an approved proctor.

• Proctoring other testing sessions as assigned, including but not limited to National Work Readiness Credential, Accuplacer, or Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (MOA certification).

The Testing Assistant is also responsible for assisting with NYSED HSE testing:

• Assisting with the administration of the GED test by observing applicants taking the GED test and maintaining the integrity and security of the GED test process at all times;

• Administering the GED test per GED/ Pearson Vue and New York State Education Department policies and procedures;

• Ensuring testing rooms are quiet, comfortable, well-light, and secure on the day(s) of testing.

• Ensuring examinees adhere to all testing time frames;

• Attending the annual GED Coordinator/ or Examiner training sponsored by New York State Education Department;

• Submitting Staff Appointment Form and resume, when necessary, to New York State Education Department for approval;

• Administering a complete battery of subtests at least four (4) times per year.

• Ensuring that all examinees are accurately registered and scheduled in the GED Registration and Scheduling System;

• Sending admission notice (s) and/or testing ticket(s) to all registered and scheduled examinees;

• Ensuring that all Computer Based Test examinees are checked in electronically as required by Pearson Vue.

• Reviewing and verifying the identity, residency and eligibility of all examinees and maintaining documentation at the testing center for one (1) year;

• Maintaining confidentiality and privacy of examinee test records;

• Ensuring Signature cards, Attendance sheets, Attachment H (if applicable), Accommodations Approval Letter (if applicable) and Accommodations Waiver Form (if applicable) are sent to New York State Education Department within five (5) days of the last day of testing;

• Maintaining a 1 to 15 ratio of Coordinator/Examiner to Examinees while in the testing room.

• Performs other testing related duties as may be assigned.

There are multiple Part-Time positions available up to 19 hours weekly. The hourly rate is $22.00.
