Hudson Valley Community College Advising Specialist, STEM HV-NTP-8279 in Troy, New York

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Hudson Valley is one of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and serves nearly 9,000 students each year. Advising Specialist, STEM HV-NTP-8279

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree

• Counseling or advisement at the post-secondary level

• Previous experience with academic advising or admissions advisement

• Communication skills and computer skills related to spreadsheets and system management

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES:

The advising specialist will report to the Department Chair or his/her designee and perform the following duties:

• Provides academic advisement to students in all programs within the department

• Evaluate transfer credit in coordination with the department chair

• Advises students on the impact of scheduling decisions

• Refers students to available student development and academic support

• Participates in academic activities within Academic Affairs

• Maintains appropriate records of student advisement

• Provides assistance to students seeking course withdrawal

• Maintains working knowledge of college services, policies and procedures

• Performs other related duties as assigned

There is one full-time 37.5 hour work week positions with a salary of $44,000/yr for a Bachelor’s degree, $47,000/yr for Master’s degree.
