DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented School to work - Gear Process Intern to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Troy, MI.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Streamline Gear Development : By coordinating the design and procurement of tooling and cutting tools, you’ll ensure efficient gear development processes.

  • Enhance Gear Quality : Your understanding of gear geometry, manufacturing, and quality procedures will help maintain high standards and improve product reliability.

  • Optimize Part Processing : Expediting part processing through internal and external sources will reduce lead times and improve overall efficiency.

  • Improve Program Management : By scheduling and updating programs as required, you’ll keep projects on track and ensure timely completion.

  • Support Lab Activities : Coordinating gear development lab activities, including research, training, and customer visits, will foster innovation and collaboration.

  • Drive Quality and Cost Reduction : Supporting plant quality and cost reduction initiatives will contribute to the company’s bottom line and product excellence.

  • Implement Best Practices : Developing and implementing best practices will standardize processes and enhance operational efficiency.

  • Ensure Timely Delivery : Tracking product processing to ensure on-time delivery will improve customer satisfaction and maintain production schedules.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Willingness to Travel : Be prepared to travel to various Cummins-Meritor facilities, vendors, suppliers, and attend meetings, conferences, training, and shows both domestically and internationally.

  • Technical Proficiency : Gain proficiency with various computer systems and programs necessary for completing job functions efficiently.

  • Flexibility with Hours : Be ready to work extra hours when necessary to meet project deadlines and objectives.

  • Collaboration Skills : Work closely with Gear Developers and Gear Engineers to ensure seamless coordination and project success.

  • Project Management : Ensure the timely completion of all project objectives by managing your time and resources effectively.

  • Technical Expertise : Develop the ability to produce detailed technical reports, read blueprints, and interpret specifications accurately.

  • Positive Attitude : Maintain a positive attitude, be a quick learner, and embrace being a team player with diverse ideas and viewpoints.

  • Adaptability : Be adaptable and open to learning new skills and processes to continuously improve and contribute to the team’s success.

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Information:

  • Students pursuing an Associates’ Degree are preferred

  • Areas of study such as CNC machining, Manufacturing and automotive are preferred

Compensation:

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
