Data Fire Alarm & Security Engineer Troy, MI $75,000-$90,000/yr

Position Summary: Seeking a Data Fire Alarm & Security Engineer for the design of state-of-the-art industrial and manufacturing facilities for the world's leading companies. You'll collaborate with engineers and design teams to create exciting and complex designs that incorporate some of the latest design techniques, while ensuring that all specifications are met, and to ensure timely completion of projects.

What you'll do:

  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering methods and techniques on primarily Data and Security.
  • May also coordinate fire alarm and other low voltage auxiliary systems work.
  • Coordinate auxiliary system design and development of small projects or on portions of larger projects of multiple varying project types and market sectors.
  • Receives instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and assistance in deriving possible solutions to unusual problems.
  • Coordinates and directs the work effort of designers on the same project with some responsibility for checking portions of the completed drawings.
  • Prepares addendums and bulletins. Initiates project change orders for submittal to the project manager.
  • Attends construction meetings and produces site observation reports and final punch list.
  • Troubleshoot design problems in the field during construction.
  • Develops an understanding for other discipline's needs and requirements and relates them to own discipline and total project scope.
  • Research design options and documents findings for project engineers and project architects.
  • Checks design calculations and drawings.
  • Processes shop drawings; checks to ensure quality accuracy and completeness.
  • Frequent external customer contact and may serve as job captain on single discipline projects.
  • Write portions of specifications and assist in preparing design and construction cost estimates.
  • Understand and use varying codes and standards required for system design.
  • Performs design work utilizing Autodesk Revit.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering
  • Current Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certification and PE tracked.
  • 2-5 years' related Fire Protection Engineering experience wo to five years of relevant experience.
  • Valid driver's license required.
