About the role

We are seeking a passionate manager to lead and strengthen our Design Verification and Analysis Department based in Trollhättan. The primary responsibilities of the Department of Design Verification at GTC include to support technology development at GTC with expertise in solid mechanics and thermal analysis, as well as advancing these areas within GKN Aerospace.

The team consists of engineers who specialize in concept generation, dimensioning and verification of engine/demonstrator/test rig components utilizing their expertise in FE, strength, fatigue, fracture mechanics and heat transfer.

As a manager, you will be responsible for the functional management of the department overseeing approximately 15 direct reports. Your role will include ensuring the growth and development of the team in alignment with the Technology Strategy and the company’s needs. As part of the GTC Management Team, you will manage relationships with stakeholders and the research ecosystem, contribute to improvements of our ways of working, and participate in the planning and strategy development for the GTC.

Place of employment and travel requirements This position is based in Trollhättan, Sweden, as such, the applicant should be able to gain the right to live and work in Sweden. Travel to other locations within Sweden as well as EU is expected.

Job Responsibilities

• Management of the department employees. • Maintain the quality of the teams’ work and continuously seek and implement improvements in the way-of-working. • Responsible for the health and safety of the team members at work. • Contribute to the development of GKN as a 'Great Place to Work' • Develop growth and development plans for the department and its technical fields. • Recruit and train staff to ensure that the department and the technology programs have the required skillset • Coach team members to promote development and enhance team performance • Stay updated about the state-of-the-art and technical capabilities in the technical field of the department. • Establish and develop technology relationships and partnerships with key national and international customers, companies,

and academic bodies within department’s technical fields. • Contribute to defining the detailed content of new R&T programs

Person Specification

You have a background as an engineer with proven leadership and communication skills. You are passionate about solving engineering problems and managing and developing people. You also have a strong interest in aerospace and thrive when facing technical challenges.

Job Qualifications

• MSc. Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant engineering field. • Proven experience managing people. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships • Ability to clearly present data, reports and presentations to facilitate decision-making at all levels of the business. • Passion and energy for continuous improvement, results-driven and resilient. • Team player. Ability to empower others, acting as a coach/mentor and supporting the growth of team members. • Proficiency both in Swedish and English
