Against that backdrop, we are seeking an accomplished leader to join our team in the role of Vice President, Brokerage Channel in our multi-billion dollar MarketPoint sales organization. This position is responsible for overseeing and driving the performance, growth, and strategic direction of the MarketPoint Brokerage business, including our recently acquired IFG brokerage organization, which is now the 3rd largest insurance brokerage in the country. This role will have full ownership and accountability for the Brokerage business while also integrated with MarketPoint as a key distribution channel. This role requires a strong, collaborative leader with the ability to maximize cross-organization teamwork in a highly-matrixed organization.

The VP, Brokerage Channel will be responsible for profitable execution of Humana brokerage activities, the IFG organization, our national retail relationships such as Walmart, Kroger and others, and delivering the strategic growth objectives of our agnostic business. The brokerage team needs to be run as a separate yet closely aligned organization.

The Vice President will lead a multi-level organization of roughly 75 associates, with six direct reports, and will manage well over 100 relationships with third-party sales agencies. This position can be located anywhere within the lower 48 contiguous states. However, extensive travel should be expected during the first year in the position.

Key Responsibilities :

Strategic Leadership and Business Development

  • Create a value proposition through our operations, service and support model that establishes the Brokerage as a market-leading top choice to do business with.

  • Lead the Brokerage organization, with full ownership to drive the profitability of IFG as both an integrated business within MarketPoint and a separate P&L

  • Responsible for multi-channel, multi-carriers including approxomately 3,000 that currently are direct to the Brokerage, setting clear goals and providing direction to ensure the team meets or exceeds performance targets

  • Drive the Brokerage channel to triple the percentage of sales contribution to the overall sales distribution

  • Ensure strong relationships with our Carrier Partners and ensure good standing at all times.

  • Grow our Agnostic downline organizations, call center partners and new channels.

  • Develop and grow our National Retail relationships and utilize this to grow the business.

Operational Management

  • Ensure operational effectiveness and efficiency while growing the business.

  • Ensure financial targets are met, collaborating with finance, and setting clear guidance to the Brokerage leadership team to maintain fiscal rigor

  • Implement best practices and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Build a culture of trust, collaboration, and open communication to ensure team effectiveness and encourage a culture of curious, committed and caring within IFG.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the organization

Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure that all activities comply with relevant regulations, including CMS guidelines and internal policies.

  • Hold Brokerage and IFG leaders accountable to strong compliance standards across both internal and partner relationships

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Build strong internal relationships across MarketPoint, and other key corporate partners

  • The VP Brokerage will build/sustain critical key relationships to foster both channel growth and cross company growth of CenterWell, Pharmacy, Specialty, and Med Supp within the Brokerage

Key Candidate Qualifications

In general terms, the ideal candidate will have extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in the insurance brokerage industry, with a significant focus on Medicare products and services and/or multi-carrier experience. He/she will have a proven record of success in leading a multi-channel insurance brokerage on a national scale, including P&L responsibility, setting multi-year strategic plans, and driving significant operational improvement. Finally, the ideal candidate will be a strong leader of people with a clear history of expanding and elevating the capabilities and performance of a team and its individual members.

In addition to the above, the following professional qualifications and personal attributes are also sought:

  • In-depth knowledge of Medicare regulations, market dynamics and competitive landscape.

  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate market insights into actionable business strategies.

  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and financial performance.

  • Proven record of success in designing and implementing an operational framework and achieving higher levels of operational rigor.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including the polish, poise, and executive presence that will ensure effective interaction with senior and executive level audiences, both internally and externally.

  • Current or recent experience in a highly matrixed company, with proven ability to influence leaders and key stakeholders in such an environment.

  • Highly collaborative mindset and excellent relationship-building skills, including the ability to engage many diverse stakeholders and SMEs and win their co-ownership in the outcome.

  • Proficiency in CRM software and business analytics.

  • Experience with digital transformation initiatives and the use of technology to enhance Medicare sales and service delivery.

  • Familiarity with CMS guidelines and experience working in a highly regulated environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Healthcare, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • Professional certifications such as Health Insurance license, CLU or CHS will be a strong plus.
