JOB DESCRIPTION
Under limited supervision of the Chief of Staff, manage the strategic process and technology reforms for organizational change in a coordinated way, track project progress, and manage stakeholder expectations. The Business Strategy and Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of strategic business initiatives and technology solutions. This role focuses on leveraging technology to enhance business operations, drive growth, and improve efficiency in lending processes across the agency. Serve as the primary liaison between MITAS, business divisions, information technology, and vendors to translate strategic business objectives into actionable technology solutions.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Ensuring that initiatives are managed consistently by providing uniform policies and guidelines for projects across NJHMFA.
Develop project processes, policies, and guidelines. Responsible for project tracking and schedule management.
Gather relevant project data to produce information to be presented for review by Executives.
Develop, implement, and monitor strategic business plans aligned with the Agency’s mission and growth objectives.
Develop a comprehensive technology roadmap to support business strategy and optimize mortgage lending processes.
Oversee the integration and implementation of technology solutions in support of mortgage application process, reporting, and data analytics platforms.
Collaborate with IT, Finance, Loan Closing, and Technical Services teams to ensure technology aligns with business goals and regulatory requirements.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions to improve service delivery, data management, and customer experiences.
Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and establish metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of strategic initiatives.
Drive the adoption of digital tools and platforms to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the overall mortgage process.
Lead end-to-end project management for business and technology initiatives, including scope definition, resource allocation, timeline management, and risk mitigation.
Facilitate communication and collaboration among internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, partners, and regulatory bodies.
Develop and maintain detailed project documentation, including business requirements, project plans, testing manuals, standard operating procedures, and status reports.
Implement advanced data analytics and reporting solutions to support decision-making and enhance mortgage origination and servicing processes.
Develop and enforce risk management policies and procedures to minimize operational risks related to technology and business processes.
Coach Agency staff in technology solutions and be the point of contact for technical issues.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education / Experience:
Four (4) year degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree in a related discipline or other advanced degree is preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in business strategy, software project management, or technology management with a focus on implementing custom software solutions, deployment, testing, and data migration: Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that meet the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Experience in banking, the financial and mortgage industry, and regulatory environment is a plus.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred
Skills:
Project Management : Strong project management skills with a track record of successful delivery of complex initiatives.
Technical Skills : Understanding of web technologies, workflow/task management systems, data analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI), database management systems, Microsoft Office suite including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and work collaboration tools including teams and SharePoint.
Soft Skills : Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
Team Leadership: Experience leading cross-functional teams and fostering a collaborative, results-driven environment.
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with mortgage regulations, compliance standards, and risk management practices.
Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
