CENTURY LLC Laboratory and Quality Technician - 3rd Shift in Traverse City, Michigan

$2,000 Signing Bonus $18-22/hr Based on Experience + Shift Premium (8%)   Job Title: Laboratory and Quality Technician Department: Quality Hourly or salary: Hourly Position type/ expected hours: Full-time   Summary/Objective Under the direction of the Quality Manager and Met Lab Manager facilitate and perform quality control checks and inspection of heat treat equipment and customer product in the Met Lab and shop floor. Additionally, this position creates and implements strategies for quality control and assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products to optimize product quality through the following:   Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Operate and work in safe manner and follow all safety regulations. 2. Use wide variety of power tools including cut-off saws, surface grinders, and angle grinders. 3. Perform verification of hardness inspection equipment. 4. Set up, operate, and maintain Met Lab equipment. 5. Perform evaluation of Quality Control samples submitted to lab for verification. 6. Perform evaluation and approval of heat treat process, through hardness inspection, case depth, charts, microstructure of customer parts or other means as directed. 7. Assist in maintaining Quality Control procedures of heat treat equipment to ensure continued conformity and consistency of heat-treated product, including TUS's & SAT's. 8. Create certification reports based on customer specifications as required. 9. Perform daily quality control checks on heat treat equipment. 10. Assist in maintaining quality requirements and Met Lab procedures using current ASTM and other pertinent standards. 11. Prepare routings and/or work instructions for lab work. 12. Work in other heat treat departments as required and directed. 13. Review of internal and third-party certifications and calibrations to ensure compliance to requirements and regulations.

Willingness to learn different methods and systems and encourage and teach team members realized and applied skills. 8. Capability to work within a team and recognize when a teammate might need for you to shoulder more responsibility 9. Support team objectives and targets that support company goals and objectives. 10. Comply with the Quality Management System, Safety Practices, and Management Operating System documents relative to your department. 11. Oversee and comply with company rules and practices in compliance with the Employee Handbook. 12. Support and participate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives throughout the organization including but not limited to kaizen, OEE, Kanban, 6 Sigma, etc. 13. Comply with 5S housekeeping practices and maintain a clean, organized work environment. 14. Proficient with computers and production management software. 15.
