Looking for a rewarding, full-time (with benefits), position where you can make a positive impact working with children? This School Social Worker position will be working with children in the Bradford County School Districts.

SUMMARY

A School Social Worker, or Licensed School Social Worker, is responsible for supporting students and advocating for their emotional, mental and physical wellbeing. Their duties include counseling students, connecting at-risk youth with helpful resources and connecting with their families to provide additional support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Serve as a team member for programs as assigned;
  2. Participate in the development of curriculum with particular emphasis on social-emotional behaviors;
  3. Provide referral and pre-referral consultation;
  4. Conduct an evaluation to discover social-emotional needs and use the findings in the development of a FBA or functional behavior assessment or Behavioral Intervention Plan;
  5. Ensure that an effective treatment plan has been developed for each student served;
  6. Provide regular consultation to program staff and parents in matters pertaining to the social-emotional needs of students;
  7. Participate as a member IEP Team (Individualized Educational Planning Team)
  8. Maintain confidentiality
  9. Write appropriate present level of performance statements with current data.
  10. Provide appropriate documentation of programs of goals and objectives;
  11. Provide direct services to students and/or parents as described in the IEPT meeting report;
  12. Establish time in daily/weekly/monthly schedule for the purpose of: a. Conducting student evaluations, b. Providing direct services to children/youth, c. Providing direct services to families, d. Attending IEPT meetings, and e. Participating in program development and in service training activities.
  13. Maintain, prepare and process the district s required documentation, which includes but not limited to the following: Program data, Medicaid, student count, etc.
  14. Maintain student records, student objectives, and security/inventory of equipment and materials according to identified system
  15. Meet specific performance objectives developed jointly with immediate supervisor;
  16. Provide support to local school district during crisis events/situations;
  17. Provide in-service education and serve as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics related to research based practice in response to intervention, positive behavior support and appropriate interventions;
  18. Maintain professional competence in the field which may include attending and participating in professional organizations, workshops and conferences; reading professional journals and other related publications; and, completing additional course work

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  1. Graduate of an accredited college or university with a master's degree in social work, licensed preferred.  
  2. Knowledge of childhood, adolescent and adult psychopathology and basic psychotherapeutic issues, treatment techniques and methods of intervention, l year exp rience required.
  3. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
  4. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Trains for Clinical Staff
  5. Requirement for Licensure, Certification and/or Registration

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Must be able to travel if required.
  2. Position may/will require use of own vehicle, valid auto insurance, and possess valid (clean) driver's license.
  3. Sedentary work: duties require exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry push, and pull articles such as files and computer binders.
  4. Position requires occasional crisis intervention for protection of self and others.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  1. Works in well-lit office environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  1. Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  2. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  1. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as payment reimbursements and payroll labor distributions.

  1. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
