Eastern Wyoming College Part Time CDL Instructor in Torrington, Wyoming
Position Summary: The CDL Program instructor/Specialist is a professional position for program instruction, student
support, safety, equipment inspection and supporting the overall program operations. Under the general direction of the
Director of Community Education/Workforce Development, the instructor performs duties related to delivering the EWC
non-credit instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their
potential. This position uses standard curriculum and approved methodology to ensure student progress in both written
coursework and practical driving skills, while providing learning opportunities through approved strategies as needed.
Flexibility and excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely and without conflict is a must.
Essential Duties:
? Prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
? Ensure safety operation of vehicle(s) at all times
? Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning environments
? Prepare classroom and (off campus) range for class activities
? Ensure vehicle(s) are in safe operating conditions at all times
? Complete maintenance report forms to supervisor
? Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
? Use relevant technology to support instruction
? Observe and evaluate the progress of individual students, maintaining accurate and complete records of students'
progress and development
? Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, polices and school regulations
? Ensure safety protocols are followed in the lab and classroom
? Prepare required reports on students and activities
? Maintain daily attendance sheet
? Perform certain support functions including student support, counseling with students with academic problems and
providing student encouragement
? Communicate necessary information regularly to students and supervisor(s) regarding student progress and needs
? Keep up to date with developments in subject area
? Ensure program operates in accordance with policies and procedure, OSHA Hazardous Communication, FERPA, state
law and applicable standards
? Report safety concerns, incidents, and/or emergencies to the required entities, per procedure
? Comply with College procedures and practices related to instructional delivery, assessment, and reporting requirements
to include records management
? Perform all other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned
Qualifications:
? Minimum of HS diploma or equivalent
? 5 years of truck driving experience
? Valid CDL Class A License, with preferred endorsements of Double/Triple (T), Tank Vehicle (N), Hazardous Materials
(H)
? Current DOT Medical Card
? Willingness to obtain preferred endorsements
? Must pass pre-employment drug screening and periodic screenings
? Must maintain a clean DVM record and be insurable by EWC's insurance
