Job Description:
The Advanced Sourcing Manger will participate in on-site supplier assessments to verify supplier capacity and capabilities to support on-site as needed. The primary duty of this position is to provide support in the selection and development for Milwaukee Tool's key suppliers through manufacturing efficiency. This position will develop action plans and drive implementation to close supplier gaps to fulfill the order demand in the specific quality level and volume time frame.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Broad functional exposure across supply management activities to include supplier qualification and performance management.
Evaluate supplier capacity since early stages of supplier selection, validate capacity plan and verify in every stage as needed.
Work closely with the sourcing commodity managers to identify gaps and to develop new suppliers to get them up to Milwaukee standards (including regulatory requirements).
Drive supplier delivery & capacity issues driving a plan for efficiency improvement.
Ensure suppliers perform MFA Manufacturing Feasibility Analysis and Risk Assessments for all projects and engineering changes.
Understand the supplier's current capabilities and potential new capabilities and communicate to the sourcing commodity managers.
Supply Market intelligence:
Gather and analyze data to support the management of specific commodity categories.
Help the procurement managers to be in a better position to manage risks.
Negotiate with suppliers to identify cost savings opportunities and gain a competitive advantage.
Supplier landscape:
Identify key suppliers for our main categories: where are they located, and performance rates.
Market trends:
Analyze average pricing and costs for products and services within the market.
Analyze if our suppliers are offering prices above or below average.
Demand and supply Assessment:
Evaluate the potential for supply limitations in the future.
Analyze how global capacity may impact pricing and availability.
Government and regulatory changes:
Stay informed about upcoming regulatory changes that may affect our supply chain and procurement processes.
Benchmarking:
Evaluate if we are receiving good value from suppliers compared with industry benchmarks.
Negotiation Strategies:
Identify leverage points for negotiations to achieve better terms with suppliers.
Data to support better decision-making:
Provide data to inform operational decisions, budgeting, financial targets, and technology investments.
What TOOLS you'll bring with you:
BS in Mechanical/Industrial/Mechatronics Engineering.
Knowledge and experience in manufacturing processes (all commodities: plastics, metals, electronics, packaging/textiles).
Effectively investigate and identify potential vendors.
Ability to decide on vendor capacity and capability as it applies to manufacturing Milwaukee Tool parts and to isolate any areas of concern with these vendors.
Ability to interpret part drawings, understanding engineering and quality standards.
Direct daily communications, both verbal and written, to ensure all groups are working toward the goal of timely project completion.
Well-developed and innovative problem-solving skills required.
Proven track record of demonstrating leadership in project and inputs management and prioritization.
Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
Work with commodity managers to recommend improvement actions to support cost reduction initiatives.
Fluent in English (speaking and writing)
Travel required up to 50% domestically and internationally, sometimes on short notice.
Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:
Professional society / organizational certification
Experience with ISO-9001, IATF16949, VDA 6.3, CQI process auditing
Experience with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification desirable
Self-starter, able to lead with minimal direction, motivated by building organizational capacity.
Comfortable in fast-paced, competitive environments
Ability to identify issues or threats, communicate, build plans, and execute.
