Eaton Corporation Quality Engineer in Torrance, California

Eaton’s Aerospace Division is currently seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Torrance, CA facility.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $92287.53 - $135355.04 a year.

What you’ll do:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for managing the quality of products produced for the assigned department. Develops action plans for improvement to scrap, warranty, internal defect, and customer complaint rates. Supports activities related to production, analyze failures, and drives the improvements identified in action plans. Maintains and implements the requirements for the Eaton Quality System, AS9100, and applicable IPC requirements as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Interface with customers both internal and external to ensure corrective actions are implemented in a timely and effective manner.

• Participate-in and lead the auditing of internal quality systems.

• Participate in product development and launch activities with emphasis on customer requirements, manufacturing needs and capabilities.

• Develop and review internal audit plans to meet and exceed our customers' expectations.

• Investigate and eliminate causes of non-conformances.

• Interface with suppliers regarding performance and audits as required.

• Direct cross functional teams in problem solving and issue analysis in an effort to address either customer or production related issues.

• Coordinate support of production manufacturing with problem solving, process improvements and resolution to manufacturability issues.

• Direct coordination of customer return analysis and ensures timely response to customers.

• Work with Design Engineering and Supply Chain to ensure that quality criteria are clearly identified on all newly established parts and communicated to suppliers.

• Develop and leads routine risk assessment activity (PFEMA) on all new products and with changes that affect existing product.

• Work in partnership with engineering to support all NPD Launch related projects and milestones related to product quality and improve the overall process to achieve zero defects and launch readiness.

• Execute or facilitates all aspects of APQP and Part Approval and sign-off for both suppliers and customers, manage revisions of process control documents such as PFMEAs, Control Plans and other quality tools to ensure compliance.

• Analyze scrap, warranty, internal defect, and customer complaint rates to develop action plans for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Quality related role

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of 50 miles of Torrance, CA will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years of experience in a Quality related role.

  • Knowledgeable in problem-solving tools such as Six Sigma, 8D, Root cause analysis, and SPC.

  • Experience with AS9100 with knowledge of process auditing.

  • Electronics experience preferred.

  • Experience with IPC and J-STD’s preferred.
