ALS Microbiology Laboratory Technician in Torrance, California

About the role:

The Microbiology Department performs various microbiological testing for Drug Substances, Drug Products, Excipients, Impurities, Medical Devices, Personal Care Products and Water samples

The Torrance, CA laboratory has full and part time positions available.

Some positions may be temporary. Morning and afternoon work shifts/hours available.

All shifts will require weekend and Holiday shifts rotations as needed.

Work Schedule: 11am to 7:30pm

Responsibilities

About you:

  • Perform testing as assigned and work in all areas of the Microbiology department, including the media preparation area.

  • Take inventory of microbiological supplies and media.

  • Clean all laboratory areas, sample retain areas and sterility cleanroom.

  • Wash glassware and handle biohazard trash as needed.

  • Visit client facility to perform water and environmental sampling.

  • Assist with other analysts with their tasks as needed.

  • With the guidance of an Analyst and/or laboratory management evaluate data, troubleshooting, and/or process improvements.

A Required Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with Microbiology testing procedure noted above.

  • Experience working with microorganisms and biohazard trash.

  • Experience with aseptic techniques.

  • Understanding and application of GLPs and cGMPs

  • Quality Control experience.

  • High School diploma with a minimum of 1 semester direct experience in a college laboratory environment or 1-year direct experience in a work laboratory environment.

  • AA or BS degree in Microbiology or Life Science field preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Attention to details.

  • Experience working in a team environment, strong multi-tasking skills.

  • Strong safety culture and adherence to safety protocols.

  • This position involves repetitive movements, the ability to carry/lift up to 20lb, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
